Migration checklist

  1. Take a full backup and create a staging copy.
  2. Record current templates, menus, widget areas and custom code.
  3. Identify functionality that belongs to the old theme rather than WordPress core.
  4. Rebuild representative templates before switching production.
  5. Check analytics, forms, structured data, internal links and important search landing pages after the change.
